ASK AGRA: Family History Question Time podcast project

AGRA

The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives, has announced their latest development a series of podcasts, Ask AGRA – Family History Question Time,  to be streamed via www.agra.org.uk

During the 2020 Covid lockdown, many people have taken the opportunity to begin researching their family history, but the closure of archives and libraries has not made that easy.

Six helpful AGRA podcasts will be made freely available over the coming months, starting in September 2020.

Expert discussion panels of AGRA members will be joined by authors and historians such as Gill Blanchard, Dr. Geoff Swinfield, Les Mitchinson and Simon Fowler and led by moderators such as Sarah Williams of 'Who Do You Think You Are?' and Helen Tovey of 'Family Tree Magazine'.

Discussions on six themes will be broadcast on the 1st of each of the coming months:

September 2020 - House Histories

October 2020 - Ancestral research – getting started including understanding BMD and Census
records

November 2020 - Research before 1837

December 2020 - Military research including British service in India

January 2021 - DNA testing and use in conjunction with genealogical research

February 2021 - Using land records such as maps and tithe maps to further research

Submit any questions now by emailing  askagra@agra.org.uk

The first podcast in the series will go live on September 1st 2020 at https://www.agra.org.uk/podcasts

AGRA members and associates are still very much available to undertake commissions and resolve family history challenges, but in the current absence of family history events this is another way in which we can offer advice and information to the public.
